Aquatic Species Habitat Management

Restoring natural conditions for aquatic species has a myriad of environmental benefits. NP&V completed a project for the South Shore Estuary Reserve to inventory six Long Island south shore streams for barriers to diadromous fish passage. Such fish migrate upstream to spawn; barriers such as dams, culverts and other obstructions impede this passage. NP&V seeks to improve natural conditions through thorough inventory and analysis of problems, and recommendations for improvements to restore natural passage.
